Historicamente, serviu como centro da vida religiosa para os britânicos na Madeira e ainda hoje funciona como um lugar de culto e eventos culturais, como concertos. É uma atração turística popular, importante para a cultura e história da ilha. A igreja é cercada por um belo jardim bem cuidado, que acrescenta um charme único ao local. Ufundowany przez Henry’ego Veitcha, brytyjskiego konsula, wyróżnia się klasycystyczną architekturą, dużymi oknami łukowymi i otaczającymi go ogrodami. Historycznie pełnił rolę centrum życia religijnego Brytyjczyków na Maderze i do dziś służy jako miejsce nabożeństw, a także spotkań kulturalnych, m.in. koncertów. Jest atrakcją turystyczną, ważną dla kultury i historii wyspy. Kościół otacza piękny, zadbany ogród, który dodaje temu miejscu wyjątkowego uroku. Ogród jest pełny lokalnych roślin i kwiatów typowych dla Madery, co czyni je idealnym miejscem na spokojny spacer lub odpoczynek.
