Torre di Porto Corallo - Villaputzu -
La Torre di Porto Corallo, situata nella piccola collina che domina il porticciolo turistico, è stata costruita nel 1592 e di seguito più volte ampliata. Di forma cilindrica e di dimensioni notevoli è in contatto visivo con le torri situate a nord e a sud. Si trattava di un edificio di grande importanza strategica, la sua posizione permetteva infatti di controllare sia il delta del Flumendosa che il porto commerciale utilizzato per il traffico di minerali e del corallo riccamente presente nella zona.
La torre subì diversi attacchi, l’ultimo nel 1812 a opera di una flotta proveniente dalla Tunisia.
Terminato lo scopo per il quale era stata edificata, la torre è stata quasi ininterrottamente utilizzata fino ai giorni nostri con altre funzioni, risulta quindi in un ottimo stato di conservazione e in determinati periodi dell'anno è visitabile all’interno.
Dalle finestre si può ammirare un panorama indimenticabile di tutta la costa.

The tower of Porto Corallo, located on the small hill overlooking the tourist port, was built in 1592 and subsequently expanded several times. Cylindrical in shape and of considerable size, it is in visual contact with the towers located to the north and south. It was a building of great strategic importance, its position in fact allowed it to control both the Flumendosa delta and the commercial port used for the trafficking of minerals and coral richly present in the area.
The tower suffered several attacks, the last in 1812 by a fleet coming from Tunisia.
Once the purpose for which it was built was completed, the tower has been used almost continuously up to the present day with other functions, and is therefore in an excellent state of conservation and can be visited inside at certain periods of the year.
From the windows, you can admire an unforgettable panorama of the entire coast.
