You may be wondering who Chief Noonday was. You would not be the only one! Evidently the recorded history on Noonday is very sketchy. We know he was a very prominent Chief in the War of 1812. Legend has it that he was the one who carried the dead body of Chief Tecumseh (a Shawnee chief) from the battlefield in the Battle of Thames. He supposedly converted to Catholocism and thereby avoided being forced to leave the area by the US Army (even though he fought with the Americans in the Revolutionary war). There is some uncertaintly about what tribe Noonday belonged to. He was a member of the Ottawa nation (as is indicated on his grave), but that could mean he was from the Potowatamis, Iroquois, Chippewa, or other tribe.
To get credit for visiting this cache, please tell me the name of the mission where Chief Noonday was buried (from the gravestone).
