Welcome to Nel&Andy's first event!
We've heard good things about this campsite from various people, so will be taking our campervan away for the weekend to check it out for ourselves.
Join us for a Saturday BBQ lunch at the shelter to talk all things caching related. We will put on some snags, so please log your "will attend" for catering purposes.
When: Saturday 30 November 2024
Time: 12.45pm – 1.45pm
Where: Green Hill Lake, Ararat
Green Hill Lake is situated on the Western Highway, just 4 km east of the picturesque Victorian township of Ararat. There is drinking water available, fire pits, picnic tables, chairs, playground, an exercise machine, pontoon, boat ramps, RV dump point, hot water wash up sink and hot water showers in the first toilet block.
The lake is well-stocked with trout and redfin. There are walking tracks, photography, bird watching, water sports, bush walking, and a concrete walking/cycling path that runs all the way to Ararat. There are plenty of great things to see and do in the area including many wineries, museums and heritage centers along with well-maintained national parks and gardens, and of course caching!
If you are interested in joining us to camp, there are no designated camping spots or powered sites at the campground – you can just camp wherever you like. Camping is free, however there are donation boxes on each amenities block. Most campers donate $5 per campsite per night to help volunteers with upgrades and maintenance costs.
