Jerusalem Mills predate the founding of the United States. A village developed around the grist and saw mills to include a general store, blacksmith shop, farms and a post office. Some of the village buildings remain and are ready for visitors. The geocache is located off of the trails on the south side of the Little Gunpowder Falls in the Jerusalem Mill section of the Gunpowder Falls State Park. The White Trail (Little Gunpowder) is alongside the river, the Yellow Trail (Horse Trail) leads uphill and follows the ridge. The Yellow Trail is much closer to the geocache.
From the Visitors Parking Lot proceed to the Blacksmiths Shop and cross Jerusalem Mill Road. There is a crosswalk with pedestrian operated blinky lights. At the mill stone follow the foot path towards and over the bridge. Take a moment to admire the Eagle Scout project leading to the White Trail head. Just a few yards south is the Yellow Trail head.
Once at the top of the hill there are several places to depart the Yellow Trail to seek the cache. If you pass the large tree with yellow trail blazes included in the gallery you will be putting in extra effort. Continue carefully to the cache coordinates.
If you have time for a nice hike after finding the cache and signing the log continue down the Yellow Trail where it intersects with the White Trail. The Jericho Covered Bridge and another geocache are close by.
