Največji uporabniki ledu v Dolnjem Logatcu so bile gostilne, mesnice, Hotel Kramar (največ ledu so porabili za hlajenje piva) in slaščičar. Z ledarstvom se je kot z dodatno dejavnostjo ukvarjal vsak, ki je led potreboval. Pri tem so mu pomagali tudi nekateri vaščani. Nihče se v Dolnjem Logatcu ni preživljal samo z ledarstvom.
Kakšno leto pa se je lahko zgodilo, da ledu ni bilo. Poznavalci ledu so pravili, da je najboljši decembrov »grudnov« led, češ da je »najhujši adventov mraz«. Led pa so lomili včasih šele marca in z bojaznijo so govorili: »Letos pa ni mraza, da bi led napravili.«
Sartorijeva ledenica je stala na Brodu, na dvorišču hiše družine Turk. Zemljišče in ledenica sta v preteklosti sodila k sosednji Sartorijevi hiši (prej »Pr'Jelenc«), v kateri je imel po 2. svetovni vojni svojo delavnico slaščičar.

Ledenice, ki je bila elipsaste oblike (rekli so ji turn), ni več, na njenem mestu danes stoji garaža.
V premeru je merila ok. 5 metrov, v višino pa ok. 3 metre. Bila je poglobljena za 60 - 70 cm, vanjo se je vstopilo po dveh stopnicah. Pokrita je bila z betonsko ploščo, na kateri so bili stebrički, ki so podpirali okroglo streho.
Dostop na ploščo oz. podstrešje je bil po stopnicah, ki so bile speljanje po zunanji strani ledenice. Slaščičar je ledenico uporabljal do leta 1961.
Ledenica je bila zgrajena iz betona. Na notranji strani so ob zidu uporabljali žaganje za izolacijo. Ledene plošče različnih velikosti so dovažali z Lokve in z Logaščice. Kadar je bila huda zima, so sekali enkrat na teden. Skladali so eno na drugo, vmesni prostor pa zapolnili z zdrobljenim ledom. Po vrhu so posuli žaganje in ledenico, ki ni imela oken, skrbno zaprli. Če ledu ni bilo, so v ledenico natlačili sneg. Ledenica v tleh ni imela posebnega odtoka, ampak je voda kar izginjala v tla.

The Sartori ice house stood in Brod, in the courtyard of the Turk family house. The land and the ice house had previously belonged to the neighboring Sartori house (formerly "Pr'Jelenc"), in which the confectioner had his workshop after World War II.

The icehouse, which was elliptical in shape (they called it a turn), is no longer there; a garage now stands in its place.

They sprinkled sawdust on top and carefully closed the icehouse, which had no windows. If there was no ice, they packed snow into the icehouse. The icehouse in the ground had no special drain, so the water just disappeared into the ground.
