Geocache Description:

The Longhirst War Memorial is in the centre of the village and is a 20 feet high obelisk with tapering sides and bronze wreath on the front.  It was designed by Messrs. Harrison, Ash and Blythe of Ashington and built by J H Robinson of Meldon.

The Memorial commemorate the fallen of the Great War and also one from the Second World War.   The inscription reads:

In grateful memory

1939-1945

It was unveiled on 31 Jul 1921 by Colonel E P A Riddell. Source: North East War Memorials Project

The cache is not on the Memorial, it is across the road.  Once at GZ  reach up high.  I am sorry but wheelchair uses will need help to get this cache.
