The Longhirst War Memorial is in the centre of the village and is a 20 feet high obelisk with tapering sides and bronze wreath on the front. It was designed by Messrs. Harrison, Ash and Blythe of Ashington and built by J H Robinson of Meldon.
The Memorial commemorate the fallen of the Great War and also one from the Second World War. The inscription reads:
In grateful memory
of the men of this
Parish who fell in
the Great War 1914-1919
1939-1945
