After geocaching for nearly 20 years through multiple accounts I finally hid my own cache! You see, we had all the stuff - the ammo can, the chain, the goodies, the log book - but we just weren't sure where to hide it. It seemed like such an important committment for the first, and I was so unsure where I wanted that first cache to be. We're always out on our quads at Dove Springs OHV and the surrounding area, so we knew it would be placed off one of those trails, accessible by ATV, but we just didn't know where.
One day, after a long ride, we stopped for a drink of water and Christine took a rest under the bit of shade offered by a grouping of Joshua trees. As we took in the surroundings, Christine announced "Here! Hide it here!" and the rest is history. We went back to camp, and the next morning set out knowing exactly where to hide our first cache, and honestly, you can't beat the birds eye view from Christine's tree!
After you find the cache and write a note in the log book, sit back under the Joshua tree right next to the Kiavaw wilderness sign, and take in the view just like we did. The view is just as amazing at night!
