Geocache Description:

This geocache is on a new trail up Bald Ledge in Porter, Maine. The trail starts to the left of the kiosk and swings away from the cache for just a bit before heading towards it.

Please note, when I hid the cache, in November, most of the trail was covered with leaves. This made if difficult to see the trail and it made it slippery. As the sign on the kiosk notes, the trail is marked with survey ribbon all the way to the summit. The painted trail "blazes" are not yet completed. Watch carefully. I used my hiking poles which helped me not slip too much.

Also note, hunting season is on now, wear bright colors. PS: There is no hunting in Maine on Sundays.

The trail is about a mile to the summit and one can make a loop of about 2.5 miles by going down the other side of the hill and taking woods roads (snowmobile and ATV trails) back to Colcord Pond Road where the parking is located.

And finally, a big Thank You to the Francis Small Heritage Trust which works hard preserving land and making trails.

This cache is about 40 feet from the trail. I was heading towards some young hemlocks to hang a preform, but decided when I got there to hide my small (pint sized) container in a different way.
