Il Santuario di Santa Vittoria di Serri è uno dei luoghi più affascinanti e significativi della Sardegna nuragica. Prende il nome dalla chiesetta bizantina dedicata a Santa Maria della Vittoria, situata sull’orlo dell’altopiano, in un habitat naturale di rara bellezza. Questo luogo affascinante permette di seguire l'evoluzione della civiltà nuragica dall'Età del Bronzo (circa 2.300-1.000 a.C.) fino ai primi anni dell'Età del Ferro (950-720 a.C). Qui si possono osservare le fasi di sviluppo del nuraghe: dal modello a corridoio (1.500 a.C.) al nuraghe ‘classico’ (XIV-XII secolo a.C.), fino a quando l’area, tra l’XI e il IX secolo a.C., divenne un simbolo di spiritualità e un importante crocevia culturale e commerciale. Gli scavi hanno restituito reperti etruschi, fenici e ciprioti, che testimoniano vivaci scambi con popoli lontani. A distanza dalle zone festive si trova la "Curia", una grande capanna delle riunioni con un sedile circolare che poteva accogliere fino a 50 persone. Secondo alcuni archeologi, l’attività del santuario si interruppe bruscamente a causa di un incendio, probabilmente provocato dai Romani, che usavano attaccare i Sardi durante le loro celebrazioni collettive.
La cache si trova fuori dall'ingresso, ma una visita a questo sito straordinario è caldamente consigliata.
The Sanctuary of Santa Vittoria in Serri is one of the most captivating and significant sites of Nuragic Sardinia. It takes its name from the small Byzantine church dedicated to St. Mary of Victory, perched on the edge of the plateau in a natural setting of extraordinary beauty. This captivating site offers a glimpse into the evolution of Nuragic civilization from the Bronze Age (around 2.300-950 BC) to the early Iron Age (950-720 BC). Visitors can observe the development of nuraghi: from the corridor-type (1.500 BC) to the 'classic' style (14th–12th century BC), up to the period when the area, between the 11th and 9th centuries BC, became a symbol of spirituality and a cultural and commercial hub. Archaeological excavations have uncovered Etruscan, Phoenician, and Cypriot artifacts, evidence of vibrant exchanges with distant peoples. Away from the festive areas stands the "Curia," a large meeting hut with a circular bench that could accommodate up to 50 people. According to some archaeologists, the sanctuary’s activity abruptly ceased due to a fire, likely set by the Romans, who often ambushed the Sardinians during communal celebrations.
The cache is located outside the entrance, but a visit to this extraordinary site is highly recommended.
