Il nuraghe Is Paras si trova a Isili ed è considerato l’architettura più elegante della Sardegna nuragica. Il monumento, costruito con blocchi di calcare marnoso (bianco e bruno) disposti a filari orizzontali, è composto da una torre centrale e circondato da tre torri secondarie, collegate tramite cortine murarie. La torre centrale è circolare ed è alta quasi 13 metri, con una tholos (ossia la camera interna) di 11,80 metri, la più alta della Sardegna nuragica e seconda (all’epoca), solo alla tomba di Agamennone.
Il nome "paras" significa ‘i frati’, perché il terreno dove sorge il nuraghe appartenne dal XVII secolo ai padri Scolopi, che qui edificarono un convento. Prima era detto su Idili, come la località che lo accoglie.
La cache si trova al di fuori del nuraghe e quindi non è necessario pagare alcun biglietto, ma la visita è vivamente consigliata.
Is Paras nuraghe is located in Isili and is considered the most elegant architecture in Nuragic Sardinia. The monument, built with blocks of marly limestone (white and brown) arranged in horizontal rows, is composed of a central tower and surrounded by three secondary towers, connected by curtain walls. The central tower is circular and is almost 13 meters high, with a tholos (the internal chamber) of 11.80 metres, the highest in Nuragic Sardinia and second (at the time) only to the Agamemnon tomb.
The name "paras" means 'friars', because the land where the nuraghe stands belonged to the Scolopi friars from the 17th century, and they built a convent here. Previously it was called Idili, from the place in which it stands.
The cache is located outside the nuraghe, therefore it is not necessary to pay any ticket, but the visit is highly recommended.
