La chiesa campestre di San Sebastiano sorge su un isolotto al centro del lago artificiale di San Sebastiano, raggiungibile solo in barca. La chiesa si inserisce in un panorama incantato fatto di luci e colori. Sebbene la sua origine non sia databile con certezza i documenti attestano che era già pienamente operativa verso la fine del 1.500. La chiesa custodisce un’antica leggenda: fino alla metà dell’Ottocento, era il luogo prediletto per i matrimoni di famiglie facoltose. Ma una tragedia pose fine a questa tradizione. Durante una festa nuziale, un giovane irruppe accusando la sposa di averlo derubato, arrivando a spingere lo sposo giù da un dirupo. La sposa, disperata, tentò invano di salvarlo e, sopraffatta dal dolore, si gettò anche lei.
Parcheggiata l’auto al waypoint, segui il sentiero “Stazione Sarcidano” fino alla cache (5 minuti di camminata).

The country church of San Sebastiano stands on an islet in the center of the artificial lake of San Sebastiano, reachable only by boat. The church is part of an enchanting panorama made of lights and colours. Although its origin cannot be dated with certainty, documents attest that it was already fully operational towards the end of 1,500. The church preserves an ancient legend: until the mid-nineteenth century, it was the favorite place for the weddings of wealthy families. But a tragedy put an end to this tradition. During a wedding party, a young man burst in accusing the bride of having robbed him, going so far as to push the groom off a cliff. The bride, desperate, tried in vain to save him and, overwhelmed by pain, threw herself too.
Once you have parked the car at the waypoint, follow the “Stazione Sarcidano” path up to the cache (5 minutes walking).
