This magnanimous gift is in an area that was once a remote section of the state but is now beginning to feel the pressure of development. The land is now pretected as a respite from daily life for future generations. Varden is a place to learn about Pennsylvania's natural history. The property is managed by Promised Land State Park, which is in Pike County.
