Geocache Description:

Sacada and Aquilus1's Epic Quest for Every Cache-Holding LGA in Australia

Sacada and Aquilus1 have been zigzagging across Australia, determined to log a cache in each Local Government Area (LGA) with one. That’s right—every single LGA in Australia that hosts a cache is on their list, and now, they've checked off the last one.

For the uninitiated, one way to keep the geocaching adventure alive is by tackling LGAs, or Local Government Areas. Each one represents a boundary to cross, and a cache to conquer. And Australia, with its sprawling 538 cache-able LGAs, provides no shortage of challenges.

Six months ago, Sacada still had a few LGAs left on the map but wasn’t satisfied leaving the toughest for last. So, teaming up with Aquilus1, they set out to capture the most elusive regions of Far North Queensland and the Northern Territory. Together, they took on massive road trips down dirt tracks stretching hundreds of kilometers, took flights, took boats to remote islands, and even hired a helicopter for the hard-to-reach areas!

Once those far-flung LGAs were tackled, they set their sights on Western Australia, where Sacada checked off his final WA LGA while Aquilus1 added a lots more to her tally to also complete WA. From there, it was on to South Australia, taking on Maralinga and other outback LGAs with an adventurous spirit and some extra fuel cans.

Their last lap took them back to Queensland, where Sacada finished off the last of his missing LGAs and Aquilus1’s count grew closer to the finish line. Now, only Tasmania’s beautiful islands stood between them and the ultimate geocaching triumph.

With the final target in sight—King Island—it’s time to celebrate the grand finale of this epic journey. Join us for dinner to toast Sacada and Aquilus1's completion of Australia’s cache-able LGAs. Bring your best geocaching tales and enjoy a night of stories, laughter, and, of course, all things geocaching!

Look for the geocaching table with the logbook! We’ll announce the table number once it’s confirmed.

All are welcome—please RSVP with your “Will Attend” and the number of guests to help with reservations.

Location: Belconnen Labour Club. 5:30pm to 7:00pm

NOTE: Final LGA of King Island for Sacada and Aquilus1 will be found before the event.
