In Sardegna i menhir sono conosciuti come perdas fittas, ovvero “pietre infisse”, poiché si tratta di grandi monoliti piantati verticalmente nel terreno. Diffusi in tutta l’isola, se ne contano circa 740 esemplari, ciascuno con una storia unica da raccontare.
Secondo gli studiosi, i menhir rappresentano in modo schematico figure umane, in alcuni casi riportando anche dettagli che indicano caratteristiche maschili o femminili o il rango sociale. Tuttavia, alcuni, come il menhir di Gedillis, mantengono un’aura di mistero.
Situato nelle campagne di Laconi, non lontano dall’area archeologica di Cirquittus, il menhir di Gedillis si erge come un silenzioso guardiano del paesaggio. Questa pietra protoantropomorfa, priva quindi di tratti umani, colpisce per la sua raffinata lavorazione e l’imponente presenza.
Ogni menhir è un tassello del passato millenario della Sardegna arcaica, un richiamo alle radici profonde di un’antica civiltà e ai suoi legami con la terra e il cielo.
Il menhir si trova in un terreno privato, tuttavia puoi avvicinarti aprendo un cancello di filo di ferro, avendo cura di richiuderlo quando vai via.
In Sardinia menhirs are known as perdas fittas, or “sunken stones”, since they are large monoliths planted vertically in the ground. Spread throughout the island, there are about 740 examples, each with a unique story to tell.
According to scholars, menhirs schematically depict human figures, in some cases also bearing details indicating male or female characteristics or social rank. However, some, such as the menhir of Gedillis, retain an aura of mystery.
Located in the countryside of Laconi, not far from the archaeological area of Cirquittus, the menhir of Gedillis stands as a silent guardian of the landscape. This protoanthropomorphic stone, thus devoid of human features, is striking for its fine workmanship and imposing presence.
Each menhir is a piece of the millennia-old past of archaic Sardinia, a reminder of the deep roots of an ancient civilization and its ties to the earth and the sky.
The menhir is located on a private land, however you can approach it by opening a wire gate, taking care to close it when you leave.
