In Sardegna San Valentino è su santu coiadori, ‘il santo che sposa’. L’unica chiesa isolana dedicata al protettore degli innamorati è a Sadali, pittoresco centro di origine medioevale e di tradizioni agropastorali della Barbagia di Seulo.
Il paese festeggia il suo patrono ben tre volte all’anno: il ‘classico’ 14 febbraio, l’8 maggio e il 6 ottobre. La devozione deriva da una leggenda: un uomo che vagava portando con sé una statuina del santo, fece sosta a Sadali, di fronte a una cascata. Alla ripresa del cammino, nonostante gli sforzi, non riuscì a smuovere la statua. Allora i sadalesi custodirono gelosamente il simulacro ed eressero un ‘tempio’ al santo. La cascata di San Valentino è l'unica nell’Isola a fluire all’interno di un centro abitato.

In Sardinia St. Valentine is su santu coiadori, 'the saint who marries'. The only island church dedicated to the lovers protector is in Sadali, a picturesque center of medieval origins and agro-pastoral traditions of the Barbagia di Seulo.
The patron saint is celebrated three times a year: the 'classic' 14th February, 8th May and 6th October. The devotion comes from a legend: a man who was wandering carrying with him a little statue of the saint stopped in Sadali, in front of a waterfall. When he resumed his journey, despite his efforts, he was unable to move the statue. Then the people of Sadali jealously guarded the simulacrum and built a 'temple' to the saint. Saint Valentine waterfall is the only waterfall in the island to flow inside a town.
Inside the nearby church dedicated to Saint Valentine you can visit the statue of Saint Valentine: it is said that by gently touching it you will find your true lover!
