A stone obelisk memorial in Lakeport cemetery pays tribute to the loss of lives aboard the schooner Blanche in 1888. The exact cause of the shipwreck is unclear but the devastation that it brought was total. The captain, deck hands , and cook aboard the Blanche were all from Lakeport.
