E' il 26 gennaio 1970 quando il duo folk rock americano Simon & Garfunkel pubblica il quinto (e ultimo) album in studio Bridge over Troubled Water, che è tuttora considerato l’album che segna il vertice del percorso artistico di Paul Simon e Art Garfunkel. Vendette 25 milioni di copie, piazzò tre singoli in classifica (Bridge over Troubled Water / The Boxer / El condor pasa), ricevette due Grammy Award più altri quattro per la canzone che dava il titolo all'album, ed è piazzato al numero 51 nella classifica Rolling Stone “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
