This is the last of my Craft-a-Cache series because this one brings the 2024 calendar of cache themes to a close with HOLIDAYS for December.

NOTE #2: Yes, I realize this cache no longer bears much resemblance to an actual pickle but this 8-bit replica pickle serves as a compromise to keep this cache active in hopes that at some point in the near future I will discover a Dollar store that carries an actual Christmas Pickle. THREE Christmas Pickles have been muggled since this cache was created.
This simple little cache is a replica of one I created to show off some local Pickleball courts near where I used to live in North Vancouver. I called that one "What, a Pickle?", a name inspired by my discovery of a pickle-sized green bison tube around the time those pickleball courts were upgraded with sound-absorbing material mounted on the fence. The intent was to reduce the "thwock-thwock-thwock" noises of the game, but by all reports it didn't really help much. 
But there is another reason I chose to make this a pickle-themed cache - the apparently made-up tradition of the German Christmas Pickle. Supposedly, German parents would hide a pickle in their Christmas tree after the children had gone to bed, and the first child to spot the pickle on Christmas morning would get an extra gift. There are numerous problems with this story, though. Most notably is the fact that ST Nick visits German homes on December 6th, not on Christmas Eve. German children open their gifts on Christmas Eve, not Christmas morning, This "tradition" seems to be a ploy to sell lots of glass Christmas Pickle ornaments based on a myth.
In my walks around Parksville I have discovered that pickleball's popularity here has increased demand for playing space to the point where there are public pickleball courts at Community Park, and I have also noticed some private courts tucked behind one of the new residences.
I have tried to make this hide a little bit more devious due to the high amount of muggle traffic you will encounter in this area, and although most of the muggles will likely have their attention focused on the pickleball, there are often spectators (or players waiting for their turn) gathering outside the fences, so bring your stealth "A" game.
