Excursions to explore volcanoes are one of the essential experiences to fully get to know the island and its unique geological and geomorphological characteristics.
An excursion on an easy path to the first volcanic cone of the Timanfaya eruption series is exactly such an opportunity to connect with the island’s history..
Here we see a spectacular crater that takes us back to the moment of the eruption with its vertical walls made of solidified lava and pyroclasts. An erupting estuary (from September 1 to 12, 1730) destroyed the town of Chimanfaya and forced all its neighbors to flee to other places after losing their homes and farmland.
The geocache is located on the edge of the large open space in front of the access to the caldera. Please put the striking stone with its white surface back in front of the hiding place exactly as it was.
Many thanks to -Kobold- who was the first to visit my geocache in the beta test.
The bonus number in the can is irrelevant because I subsequently decided not to put out a bonus geocache (due to the distances between the hiding places).
