Reindeer Ruckus
One crisp winter morning on Mount Crumpit, the Grinch woke up to a peculiar noise—jingling bells and loud, stomping hooves. Groaning, he pulled the covers over his head.
“Probably just the Whos throwing another holiday parade,” he muttered to himself. But the jingling didn’t stop, and Max, his loyal dog, began barking frantically.
With a sigh, the Grinch trudged to his front door and flung it open. To his astonishment, a group of reindeer stood outside his cave. They weren’t ordinary reindeer, either—they were covered in glittering ornaments, wearing red bows, and each had a tiny bell that jingled whenever they moved.

“What in the name of roast beast is this?” the Grinch grumbled, eyeing the unexpected visitors.
The leader of the group, a particularly feisty reindeer with a red nose, stepped forward and nudged the Grinch in the chest with its antlers. Startled, the Grinch stumbled backward as the reindeer pushed their way into his cave.
“Hey! This isn’t a barn!” the Grinch shouted, but the reindeer paid him no mind. One began nosing through his cabinets, another pawed at the rugs, and a third started munching on the garland he’d hung up last week.
Max wagged his tail excitedly, clearly thrilled by the company.
“Oh, sure, you’re loving this,” the Grinch muttered to Max. “Traitor.”
As the day went on, the reindeer made themselves at home. They knocked over furniture, spilled a jar of Who-honey, and even managed to knock down the Grinch’s Christmas tree. Every time he tried to shoo them away, they ignored him—or worse, gave him a mischievous look and ran off in another direction.
“Why me?” the Grinch groaned, slumping into a chair. But as he watched the reindeer prance around his cave, he noticed something unusual. Despite their chaotic behavior, the reindeer seemed to be trying to get his attention. They nudged him, jingled their bells, and even tugged on his Santa hat.
“What is it?!” he finally yelled. “What do you want from me?”
In response, the leader of the reindeer trotted to the door and looked back, as if beckoning him to follow.
Curiosity got the better of him, and the Grinch bundled up in his coat and scarf. Max barked excitedly, ready to tag along. Together, they followed the reindeer down the snowy mountainside and through the forest.
Eventually, the group arrived at a clearing where a sleigh sat in the snow. It was beautifully decorated with gold trim and filled with gifts and treats. The reindeer jingled their bells and gestured toward the sleigh.
“Wait a minute,” the Grinch said, narrowing his eyes. “You want me to deliver these gifts? What do I look like—Santa Claus?”
The reindeer all nodded in unison.

The Grinch crossed his arms, ready to refuse, but then he glanced at Max, who was already wagging his tail and hopping into the sleigh.
“Oh, fine,” the Grinch huffed. “But if anyone asks, this wasn’t my idea.”
As the night fell, the Grinch and his new reindeer companions soared through the skies, delivering gifts to the Whos. Despite his grumbling, the Grinch couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy as he saw the smiles on the Whos’ faces when they found the surprise presents waiting for them.
By the time they returned to Mount Crumpit, the Grinch was exhausted but oddly content. The reindeer, satisfied with their mission, gave him a playful nudge before trotting off into the night.
“Don’t come back!” the Grinch called after them, but there was no malice in his voice. As he and Max headed back inside, he muttered, “Maybe those reindeer weren’t so bad after all.”
And from that day on, the Grinch couldn’t hear the sound of jingling bells without cracking a little smile.
