A cold, damp night blankets Gotham City, casting an eerie silence over the otherwise chaotic metropolis. Street lights flicker, reflecting off slick pavements as a thin mist rolls over the ground. The muffled hum of traffic in the distance is suddenly broken by a low, rumbling growl, deep and resonant, vibrating up from the darkness below the streets.
Underneath the iron grates of a forgotten sewer vent, something shifts. From deep within the sewer, claws scratch against concrete. Shadows contort as a massive, hulking figure pushes up, grating metal screeching as a manhole cover is shoved aside. Water drips from mottled scales that glisten under the feeble light as Killer Croc emerges, his enormous, muscled form unfurling from the depths.

His skin, a mixture of gray-green and mud-brown, appears almost armored—hard, scaled, and rugged from years lurking in the darkness. His golden eyes, slit-pupiled and feral, gleam with an almost primal hunger as he surveys the empty alleyway. Fangs jut from his jaw, glistening as he snarls, his breath fogging the night air.
He sniffs, catching the scent of the city: oil, sweat, fear. His massive hands, ending in claws as sharp as razors, clench and flex, anticipating a hunt. Croc’s low, rumbling voice echoes softly against the brick walls, “Gotham thinks it’s safe up here. Let’s show ‘em what it feels like to be prey.”
The subtle, rhythmic drip of sewer water on concrete announces his approach—a sound so faint it’s nearly swallowed by the hum of distant traffic. With lumbering steps, Killer Croc slinks forward, melting into the shadows, a monster once confined now unleashed on the streets above, his path of terror only beginning.
The night is as thick as pitch as Killer Croc makes his way toward the Gotham City Medical Research Facility, its harsh, sterile lights cutting through the darkness like sharp edges. The building looms on the outskirts of the city, its tall, gray facade an unspoken promise of security and secrecy. Two guards stand at the front gate, chatting idly, oblivious to the danger that creeps through the shadows. But then, a low, guttural growl cuts through the quiet like a blade. The guards stiffen, snapping to attention. One of them squints into the darkness, hand instinctively going to the gun on his hip.
"Did you hear that?" he asks, his voice uneasy.
The other guard chuckles, trying to hide his nerves. "Probably just some stray dog or—"
A massive figure lurches into the dim pool of light cast by the overhead bulb, muscles bulging under the rough scales of his skin. Killer Croc’s eyes glint like molten gold, pupils narrowing as he takes in the two men in his way. He doesn’t hesitate.
The first guard barely has time to scream before Croc's clawed hand wraps around his throat, hoisting him into the air. With terrifying ease, Croc crushes the guard’s windpipe, tossing him aside like a broken toy. The other guard stumbles backward, fumbling for his weapon, his breath coming in panicked gasps.

But Croc is already on him, a snarl escaping his lips as he swipes, his claws slashing across the guard’s chest with a sickening rip. The man crumples to the ground, blood pooling beneath him as he struggles to draw a final breath.
Croc straightens, rolling his shoulders as if merely warming up. His gaze shifts to the facility entrance, a toothy grin spreading across his monstrous face.
"Experimenting time’s over," he growls, before slinking forward, leaving a trail of carnage in his wake as he pushes toward the building, his dark intentions clear.
The front doors of the Gotham City Medical Research Facility stand tall and reinforced, heavy steel and glass designed to keep unwanted visitors out. But to Killer Croc, they’re little more than an obstacle — one he has no patience for. With a guttural snarl, he digs his claws under the edges of the doors, his immense muscles tensing as he rips them apart with a shriek of tearing metal. The doors twist and shatter, chunks of glass and metal flying in all directions. Croc lets the doors clatter to the ground, his figure framed by the mangled entrance as he steps inside.

The alarm blares instantly, red lights flashing in warning, but Killer Croc remains unfazed, a mocking grin spreading across his face. The scent of antiseptic and polished linoleum fills his nose, mingling with the tang of fear that he knows must be creeping through the building now.
Startled gasps are heard up and down the hallway as the night-shift lab assistants look out from open doorways to find out what caused the alarm to go off. Faces pale as they take in the monstrous figure looming in the doorway, his reptilian eyes looking back. There’s a beat of stunned silence, then a scream, piercing and frantic, as the assistants scramble to flee.
Killer Croc lumbers forward, his movements surprisingly fast for his size, his heavy footsteps echoing in the corridor. One lab assistant stumbles, her heel catching on the tile floor as she tries to run. Croc is on her in an instant, his massive hand reaching down, lifting her off the ground like a rag doll. She thrashes and screams, but her struggle ends as Croc squeezes, her body going limp before he drops her to the floor.
Another assistant rounds the corner, slipping in his panic as he sees Croc advancing. The man lets out a desperate yell, but Croc is merciless, swiping out with a clawed hand that catches the assistant in the back, sending him sprawling. Blood smears the pristine floors as the assistant struggles weakly, his strength fading. He lets everyone else run by so he can finish his mission.
He stalks down the hallway, his massive form casting long, distorted shadows against the sterile white walls. The directory signs above him are small and almost laughably useless to him, but he has his own way of tracking what he wants. His nostrils flare, sniffing out the faint, unique musk of reptiles—a scent he’s intimately familiar with. Somewhere in this facility lies the Herpetology Lab, and the answers he seeks.
A door marked “Research Wing” catches his eye, and he slams through it with a shoulder, leaving another set of mangled hinges in his wake. He glances at each room as he passes, his golden eyes scanning lab counters filled with computers, microscopes, cages, and neatly labeled vials. None of it interests him.
He inhales deeply, and his lips curl back, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. Somewhere here is the lab that meddles with reptilian genetics, experimenting on creatures they barely understand. Secrets he’s determined to claim as his own. And he’ll find it, even if he has to tear down every wall to get there.
He sniffs again, catching a stronger whiff. His eyes narrow as he approaches a thick, metal door near the end of the corridor labeled "HERPETOLOGY LAB." With a dark satisfaction rumbling in his chest, Croc extends his claws and tears the door off of its hinges.

The Herpetology Lab lies in eerie stillness waiting under the harsh fluorescent lights. The lab techs had fled when the alarms went off, dropping their work where they stood. Killer Croc’s monstrous silhouette casting a jagged shadow across the lab. Reptile tanks line one of the walls, filled with specimens that barely register in his monstrous mind as kin. His eyes sweep the room, narrowing in on the rows of test tubes, glass tanks, and shelves stocked with animal DNA samples and medical research tools.
With a snarl of disgust, he strides forward, sweeping an arm across one of the counters and sending beakers, files, and computers crashing to the floor. Glass shatters, chemicals spill, and the metallic tang of research-grade alcohol fills the air. Croc snarls as he rips open cabinets and pulls down shelves, each movement filled with raw, primal strength. He tosses stacks of files to the floor and sends delicate instruments clattering as he searches to destroy any trace of the research that dares to meddle with his kind’s genetic makeup.
Then, his eyes land on something in the back of the room: a large, high-tech machine with a monitor attached. It hums softly, the faint glow of the screen displaying rows of DNA sequences. Croc’s lip curls into a grin as he realizes what he’s found: the DNA sequencing machine, complete with the computer storing genetic research—research he can use, manipulate.
Moving with surprising precision for his size, he steps forward and wraps his massive hands around the machine, tugging it from its cables and yanking it free from the wall. Wires snap, screens blink out, and the machine’s weight doesn’t faze him. He hefts it under one arm, the attached computer dangling precariously in his grasp.
With his prize secured, Killer Croc glances around the ruined lab one last time, his golden eyes gleaming with dark satisfaction. The scientists who hid down here, playing god with reptile genetics, are about to pay the price.
Cradling the machine like a grim trophy, Croc stomps back down the corridor, leaving the lab in ruins behind him, and vanishes into the depths of Gotham, ready to put this stolen science to sinister use.

Two Gotham City police officers, Ramirez and O’Hara, cruise the dimly lit streets around the outskirts of the city. Their instincts honed from years working on Gotham's unpredictable streets. With a sense of dread, they respond to the alarm call two blocks away. Red and blue lights flicker in the night as the squad car speeds toward the Gotham City Medical Research Facility, sirens wailing through the otherwise still streets. Inside, Officers Ramirez and O’Hara exchange glances, both of them tense. Gotham’s night shifts are no strangers to trouble, but something about the frantic alarm that crackled over the radio gave even these hardened cops pause.
Ramirez mutters a quick prayer under his breath, glancing out the window as they turn a corner toward the facility. Then slows the cruiser as they approach the front gate.

O’Hara squints, catching sight of something lying in the faint glow of the facility's entrance lights. He taps Ramirez's arm. "Hold up. You see that?"
The car rolls to a stop, and the two officers step out, shoes crunching against gravel as they approach the front gate. Ramirez’s hand moves to his flashlight, flicking it on, casting a stark beam over the ground. There, sprawled in a broken heap just inside the gate, lies the body of a security guard, his head tilted at an unnatural angle, blood pooling around him.
Officer O’Hara curses under his breath, his voice low. "What the hell happened here?" He grimaces, fighting back a wave of nausea as he kneels to inspect the guard’s body.
They edge closer, eyes darting around the deserted entrance, wary of any movement. Officer Ramirez’s flashlight cuts across another body just a few feet away, the guard’s chest slashed open, uniform soaked in blood. The metallic scent of it hangs thick in the air, mingling with the cold, sterile smell from the facility.
"Jesus," Ramirez whispers, his voice trembling slightly, his face pale under the flashing lights. “What… what kind of person could even do this?. They’ve been torn apart…like some kind of animal got ‘em."
Officer O’Hara kneels down again, his gloved hand hovering over one of the wounds. Deep gashes, like claw marks, rip across the man’s chest—too large and too precise to be from any knife or tool.
“Animal?” O’Hara mutters, shaking his head. “No animal did this. Not one from around here, anyway. No. This was something else. Something big.”
A cold dread settles over the officers as they rise and survey the scene, every nerve on edge. Ramirez reaches for his radio, his voice steely but strained. “This is Officer Ramirez. We’ve got two dead guards at the front gate of the Gotham City Medical Research Facility. Possible hostile on site. Request for backup.” His hand shakes slightly as he hangs it back on his belt.
A faint rumble echoes from within the facility, and both officers snap their heads toward it, hands instinctively going to their weapons. Ramirez swallows, barely concealing his fear. Three lab technicians burst through the wreckage of the doorway, their faces masks of terror, white coats flapping behind them as they run.

“Help us!” one of them cries, her voice cracking as she practically stumbles into O’Hara’s arms. “He—he’s still inside!”
Ramirez grabs another technician, a young man whose eyes are wide with panic. “Slow down. Who’s in there? What happened?”
“It’s a monster… a giant lizard!” the man gasps, his voice barely a whisper as he glances back toward the building. “He… he killed Andrea… and Willis. He’s looking for something in the Herpetology Lab. I don’t know why, I just know… he’s not going to stop until he gets it.”
O’Hara clenches his jaw, exchanging a grim look with Ramirez. They’d heard stories about a giant lizard —horror stories, whispered among Gotham’s beat cops, stories they never thought they’d have to face themselves. But here he was, a walking nightmare prowling through the facility behind them.
“Alright,” Ramirez says, steadying himself, his voice low and tense. “Get to the car. Stay low and keep quiet. We already called for backup.”
The lab technicians nod frantically and hurry past, casting terrified glances back at the building as they duck behind the police cruiser.

The Gotham City Medical Research Facility is ablaze with flashing red and blue lights as squad cars pull up, one after another, spilling dozens of officers into the night. They fan out in tight formations, flashlights darting across the ground and illuminating the grim aftermath of whatever had ripped through the facility. Tense faces and hushed murmurs fill the air as officers whisper among themselves, speculating on what kind of threat could have left the bodies outside in such a gruesome state.
From a squad car in the middle of the commotion, Commissioner Jim Gordon steps out, his trench coat flaring around him as he strides toward the facility entrance. His expression is hard, his jaw set, eyes scanning the carnage before him. The guards’ bodies lie splayed out near the gate, covered hastily with blankets by the first responders, but the dark stains pooling beneath them tell a story of violence no blanket can conceal.
Gordon takes a deep breath, absorbing the scene before signaling to the officers around him. “Alright, listen up!” His voice cuts through the murmur of the crowd, drawing all eyes to him.
“This wasn’t an accident, and it wasn’t random,” he says, his tone grave. “We’re looking for someone — or something — strong enough to tear through steel doors and trained guards like they were nothing. We don’t know if it’s still inside, so stay alert and keep your weapons ready.”
Commissioner Gordan taps Officer Smith’s shoulder. “Talk with the eye witnesses. Get their statements.”
He points to two senior officers. “Murphy, Delgado — secure the perimeter. Make sure no one leaves or enters without my say-so. If this thing’s still in here, we’re not letting it escape.”
The two officers nod, their faces pale but determined, and hurry to set up a secure perimeter. Gordon then gestures to the rest of the officers. “I want a full sweep of this facility. Canvass every room, every lab, every inch of this place. Look for anything out of place, anything that might give us a lead. And don’t split up — work in teams. Whatever did this has already proven it can handle more than one of us.”

As the officers scatter to follow his orders, Gordon pulls out his radio, speaking directly to the control center. “Get the forensics team over here. I want photos of everything before we start moving bodies. And send someone to light the Bat signal. If this is who I think it is, we’re going to need him.”
Gordon turns back to the building, his eyes dark as he surveys the trail of destruction leading from the entrance. He’s dealt with his fair share of monsters in Gotham, but something about this feels darker, more primal.
He takes a final look at the splintered remains of the front doors, the twisted metal a haunting testament to the raw power they’re up against. With a steely resolve, he draws his flashlight and steps inside, leading the way as his officers begin the painstaking search for clues, each one feeling the weight of the unknown threat lurking somewhere in the depths of the facility.
———
High above Gotham, shrouded in shadow, Batman stands alone on a rooftop, the wind rustling his cape as he listens intently to the garbled voices crackling over the police scanner embedded in his cowl. The words "Gotham City Medical Research Facility," "multiple casualties," and "possible intruder" echo through his earpiece, accompanied by the calm yet urgent voice of Commissioner Gordon taking command of the scene.

Batman’s jaw tightens. He knows this place — and he knows the kind of experiments they keep behind those walls. This could be more than just a simple break-in.
In a single, fluid motion, he leaps from his perch, grappling hook firing from his wrist as he swings through the night, silent as a shadow against the city’s skyline. Within moments, he’s perched on the ledge of a nearby building overlooking the facility. The flashing lights below create a stark contrast against the stillness of his dark figure, and from this vantage point, he watches the scene unfold with practiced vigilance.
He narrows his eyes as he spots Commissioner Gordon moving toward the shattered entrance, his trench coat flapping as he gives orders to the officers around him. Even from this distance, Batman can see the grim look on Gordon’s face — a look he’s seen too often, reserved for Gotham’s darkest moments.
Carefully, Batman shifts his gaze to the facility’s exterior. His keen eyes take in every detail — the crushed metal of the front doors lying mangled on the ground, the faint splatters of blood leading inside, the hastily covered bodies of the guards near the gate. Whatever had done this had extraordinary strength — and no restraint.
He activates the tactical display in his cowl, scanning for signs of movement within the facility. The blue outlines of officers flood his vision as they spread out through the halls and rooms, canvassing every inch as Gordon ordered. But as of yet, there’s no sign of anything lurking in the shadows.
Batman’s eyes flick back to Gordon, who stands at the entrance, flashlight in hand, preparing to enter the building with an air of grim determination. Batman knows Gordon well enough to see the subtle tension in his stance, the slight set of his shoulders that signals he’s ready for the worst but dreading it all the same.
The Dark Knight’s voice rumbles softly in the quiet of the night as he activates his comm link, connecting directly to Gordon's earpiece.
“Commissioner.”
Gordon stops, glancing upward instinctively, knowing he wont see anything, though he doesn’t look surprised. “Batman,” he replies, his voice hushed. “Figured I’d hear from you. You see what we’re dealing with here?”
“Enough of it. Two dead guards outside, torn apart. Doors ripped from their hinges,” Batman replies, his tone measured and dark. “Killer Croc?”
“Looks like it. But whatever he was after inside, it wasn’t subtle.” Gordon’s gaze sweeps over the facility as he speaks. “This place does a lot of classified research. It has nothing he could fence for a quick profit.”
Batman’s jaw sets. “I’ll handle him. Keep your men out of his way — they’d be vulnerable in confined spaces with him.”
Gordon nods, his eyes shifting to the shadows, though he knows he won’t see the Dark Knight. “Understood. Be careful, Batman. Croc’s getting more vicious every time.”
Batman disconnects, his gaze lingering on the broken facility. Then, with a flick of his cape, he vanishes into the night, ready to descend into the heart of the building. Whatever Killer Croc’s plan is, Batman intends to stop him before more lives are lost.
Inside the Gotham City Medical Research Facility, Batman moves like a shadow through the sterile hallways, his footfalls silent, his senses attuned to every sound and every scent lingering in the air. The echoes of officers searching the upper floors fade into the background as he descends deeper into the facility, following a faint trail of destruction — scrapes on the walls, deep scratches on doors, and flecks of dried blood on the floor.

Finally, he reaches the Herpetology Lab, its doors twisted off their hinges, lying discarded on the floor. The room is in shambles, equipment and papers strewn across the floor, glass shattered, and shelves knocked over. It’s the epicenter of Croc’s rage, and the thick, lingering scent confirms it. Batman’s eyes narrow as he scans the room, noting every detail.
A flashlight beam pierces the darkness behind him. He turns as Commissioner Gordon steps into the lab, his face tense but relieved at the sight of Batman.
Glad you’re here,” Gordon says quietly, shutting off his flashlight as Batman’s presence shifts the shadows. “The place is wrecked, but so far we don’t know exactly what Croc was after. Got any ideas?”
Batman’s gaze sharpens as he scans the room, his detective training kicking in. The digital interface of his cowl highlights several broken monitors, display screens still flickering with faint data. He zooms in, focusing on a computer terminal lying shattered in the corner. A few garbled lines of code flash on the screen, the final remnants of the research that had been running before Croc’s assault.

Batman nods. “The destruction here isn’t random,” he says. “Killer Croc wanted something specific.”
Gordon looks around, his frown deepening. “You think he came for one of these research projects? Most of this equipment is damaged beyond recognition. Could be anything.”
Batman’s eyes narrow, flicking through the lab files strewn across the counter and floor. He stops at a folder labeled “REPTILIAN GENETIC MODIFICATION – EXPERIMENTAL.” Inside, several sheets detail recent studies on reptilian regeneration and strength enhancement, highlighted with references to genetic amplification.
Batman kneels, scanning the floor, his gloved fingers tracing over a faint trail of blood and mud next to claw marks gouged into the linoleum. He follows the trail with his eyes to the back of the laboratory to a gaping hole in the wall.
Batman rises, his gaze fixed on the corner where a broken steel frame lies askew, wires hanging like severed veins. A flash of recognition crosses his face. “The DNA sequencing machine. It’s missing.”
Gordon’s eyebrows shoot up. “DNA sequencing? What would Croc want with that?”
Batman’s jaw tightens. “If he’s after this technology, it’s likely he’s planning to alter his own genetics—become even stronger, or perhaps cure his condition altogether. Waylon Jones has never been one for finesse, but lately he’s shown signs of… planning.”
He reaches into his utility belt, pulling out a small forensic scanner, and begins sweeping it over the empty space where the machine once stood. A faint trail of scuff marks indicates where Croc pushed debris out of his way, leading toward the hallway.
“This was deliberate. He knew what he wanted and came prepared to take it,” Batman says, the low rumble of his voice echoing in the hollow lab. He glances at Gordon. “The computer attached to the sequencing machine would contain sensitive research data. If he managed to keep it intact, he could access formulas and genetic codes that could make him more dangerous than ever.”
Gordon lets out a frustrated sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. “So he’s planning to evolve. Or experiment on himself. Any chance we can track that machine?”
Batman’s eyes glint as he taps the scanner’s display, pulling up a faint heat signature on the screen. “There’s a residue here — reptilian body oil mixed with mud. His trail is fresh, and with the attached computer, he can’t have gotten far. I’ll follow it.”
He places a gloved hand on Gordon’s shoulder. “Keep your men clear. If Croc’s working with this technology, he may be desperate or volatile. I’ll handle him.”
Gordon nods, his face taut with worry but trusting. “Be careful. Croc’s unpredictable, but with science on his side…well, let’s just hope we’re not looking at a new kind of monster.”
Batman’s eyes harden, his silhouette framed by the harsh lab lights. “I’ll make sure he doesn’t get that chance.”
With a final nod to Gordon, Batman turns, his cape billowing behind him as he slips into the shadows, tracking Croc’s trail through the twisted hallways and into the dark underbelly of Gotham, ready to confront whatever nightmare Croc intends to unleash.

Help Batman track down Killer Croc.
