Dropped From The Sky is an important point in Franklin County that will live on in the history archives.
On September 24th, 2024, game developer Jason Rohrer and Instagram Influencer Tom Bailey released to the world a treasure hunt for real gold. They crafted a unique, one-of-a-kind cipher artifact out of 10 troy ounces of 24K solid gold, and told the world that they hid it within a 500-mile diameter centered in Pennsylvania.
This was called "Project Skydrop". What ensued was tens of thousands of treasure hunters seeking out clues from live feed cameras that were set up.
The hunt lasted for about 8 days, when a weatherman from Massachusetts, Dan Leonard, used his knowledge of maps, weather, and tree groves to find the trophy that was sitting at this spot, in Wendell State Forest.
It shined a national spotlight on the Town of Erving and brought thousands of visitors to Franklin County to enjoy the beautiful landscape that it has to offer.
The story didn't end here, as what resulted was a two-week saga including a footrace for a bounty jar of coins, betrayal, and eventually a villain redemption story.
This is not a hard cache to find, as the coordinates will take you to the spot where the Trophy was sitting.
