While building the neighborhood Little Free Library I had the great idea to incorporate a geocache to the build. You must find the compartment to reveal an ammo can with a lock that needs deciphered from the history lesson below. The cache will be periodically restocked with 3d printed goodies so feel free to take something if you find it interesting.
A few miles from this location, at Chestnut Grove Plantation, our nations FIRST 1st Lady Martha Dandridge was born.
In 1749, Martha married her FIRST husband Daniel Custis. At the young age of 26, Martha was widowed when Daniel passed away from a throat infection leaving the White House Plantation to her.
Later, at a Williamsburg Social event, Martha met her soon to be SECOND husband, George Washington. In 1759, at the Custis White House Plantation, George and Martha got married.
In 1775, George Washington was appointed at Commander In-Chief of the Continental Army. During the American Revolution, George and Martha spent most of the time separated.
After the war and the Colonies gained their independence, George Washington was elected to become the United States first president. In turn, Martha Washington became the 1st Lady of the United States for EIGHT years.
After the presidency, they returned to Mount Vernon where they both passed later in life and are buried to this day.
Congratulations to the FTF Joint Cache Force 6 with DoodleBugg2009 and DoodleBugg2013!!!
