La più importante dal punto di vista storico e anche la più antica è la chiesetta della Santissima Trinità.
La sua origine è molto incerta: probabilmente fu eretta sopra le rovine di un tempietto romano dedicato al dio celtico Beleno. La chiesa è citata nei documenti a partire dal 1500, anche se la campana che ne sovrasta la facciata testimonia della sua esistenza fin da un’epoca ben anteriore: infatti porta impressa la data 1287, che la rende la campana più vecchia di tutta la provincia. A conferma della vetustà dell’edificio un aiuto viene dal materiale di riempimento ritrovato intorno all’altare, resti un affresco absidale databile al 1200-1300.
Durante i lavori di ristrutturazione della chiesetta, avvenuti nel 1989, oltre a questi frammenti sono stati ritrovati i resti di un tempietto databile al VII secolo d.C. e di una necropoli anticamente annessa che risale al periodo longobardo.
Al di sotto della pavimentazione moderna (a 10 cm di profondità) vennero in luce muri di fondazione in ciottoli e malta, successivamente rasati, e un pavimento in cocciopesto dipinto di rosso.
Le indagini archeologiche consentirono, inoltre, di individuare anche un’area sepolcrale, di cui si misero in luce cinque tombe, tutte ad inumazione e in semplice fossa terragna, orientate in senso est-ovest. Tra queste, vanno segnalate la tomba 2, riferibile ad un individuo adulto di sesso maschile, con due coltellini in ferro come corredo, e la tomba 4, relativa ad una fanciulla, con un orecchino in argento deposto presso la testa.
Nella zona circostante, vennero invece rinvenuti, nel 1984, dei frammenti fittili di epoca romana; pure di epoca romana sono i laterizi murati nell’angolo occidentale della chiesa moderna.
In precedenza la chiesetta era intitolata ai Santi aquileiesi Canzio, Canziano e Canzianilla, poi modificata perché luogo di riunione della confraternita della Santissima.
Il "contenitore" è magnetico, logbook sottile. Portatevi una penna e buona caccia!
The most important from a historical point of view and also the oldest is the church of the Holy Trinity.
Its origin is very uncertain: it was probably built over the ruins of a Roman temple dedicated to the Celtic god Belenus. The church is mentioned in documents starting from 1500, even if the bell that overlooks the facade testifies to its existence since a much earlier period: in fact it bears the date 1287, which makes it the oldest bell in the entire province. Confirmation of the antiquity of the building comes from the filling material found around the altar, remains of an apse fresco dating back to 1200-1300.
During the renovation of the church, which took place in 1989, in addition to these fragments, the remains of a small temple dating back to the 7th century AD and of an ancient necropolis annexed that dates back to the Lombard period were found.
Beneath the modern flooring (at a depth of 10 cm) foundation walls made of pebbles and mortar, later leveled, and a red-painted cocciopesto floor were discovered.
The archaeological investigations also allowed the identification of a burial area, of which five tombs were brought to light, all inhumations and in a simple earthen pit, oriented in an east-west direction. Among these, tomb 2 should be noted, referring to an adult male individual, with two iron knives as grave goods, and tomb 4, relating to a young girl, with a silver earring placed near her head.
In the surrounding area, instead, some Roman-era earthenware fragments were found in 1984; also from the Roman era are the bricks walled up in the western corner of the modern church.
Previously, the small church was dedicated to the Aquileian Saints Canzio, Canziano and Canzianilla, then modified because it was a meeting place for the confraternity of the Santisima. The "container" is magnetic, thin logbook. Bring a pen and happy hunting!
