Geocache Description:

The Moose Pond Dam in Denmark, Maine, has a history dating back to its original construction in 1792. The dam underwent a significant reconstruction in 1941, which replaced much of the original structure with concrete. Spanning about 75 feet in width and standing 12 feet tall, it comprises three channels supported by thick concrete buttress walls. The dam plays a crucial role in regulating water levels in Moose Pond and has undergone periodic maintenance, including upgrades in 2004 and recent repairs in 2022.

Denmark owns and maintains the dam, but neighboring towns like Bridgton have contributed to repair costs.
