国立新美術館は2007年開館しました。黒川紀章設計の美術館としては最後のもので、曲線的なガラスが独特な佇まいを見せています。
地下1階、地上4階、敷地面積30,000平方メートル、延床面積約49,830平方メートルは日本最大です。独立行政法人国立美術館に所属している中で唯一コレクションを持たない為、英語名は収蔵品を持つのが通常であるミュージアムではなくアートセンターを用い、「ナショナルアートセンター・トウキョウ THE NATIONAL ART CENTER-TOKYO」となっています。

The National Art Center, Tokyo opened in 2007. It is the last museum designed by Kisho Kurokawa and has a unique appearance with its curved glass.
With one basement level and four floors above ground, the museum occupies a site area of 30,000 square meters and a total floor space of approximately 49,830 square meters, making it the largest of its kind in Japan.
It is the only one of the National Art Museums of Japan that does not have a collection, so its English name is “ART CENTER” instead of “museum,” which is usually used for its collection.
