Kiplingcotes Derby is the oldest horse race in the country and possibly Europe. It's held on the third Thursday in March and has been "run" every year since 1519. What's special about it is that these days second place gets a better prize than first place. Let's try and keep warm and have a short walking race of our own, the challenge being to come second not first.
UnstableBoron may have a Christmas present for everyone who enters our little walking race and if he can get organised he'll bring some snacks and a flask of tea . If he's feeling particularly festive second place MAY WIN ACTUAL CURRENCY. That's right legal tender you can spend in this country!...Just not much...I think probably £1 for the second place. if you have any coconuts to make a horse noise or a hobby horse to "run" with then bring that too, otherwise a clip clop noise will suffice or just a resigned sense of acceptance that this is happening.
Also It's my 8th birthday on the 16th and so I will definitely bring cake and an uncontrollable sense of excitement.
Join us for geochat and walking around and cake; it sounds like a good way to fill a Sunday morning to me.
