Dit was ooit een bloeiende druivenstreek. In de onmiddellijke nabijheid van de cache stonden tot eind vorige eeuw tientallen grote serres. De laatst overblijvende staan er nog als getuige van een arbeidsintensieve teelt van een prachtig product.
