Israel National Trail in Mitzpe Ramon follows along part of Ramon Crater cliff trail with its great viewpoints. Then according to the geocaching app, it splits into two directions - see trailhead coordinates. One continues on the cliff west until it finally turns down towards the crater. This is the official Israel National Trail today, as can been seen in google maps. The other trail goes south into the crater, marked green. This is the old route, as faded markings can still be spotted along the way. Actually this old path is a shortcut, to the detour the official trail takes today. Eventually the two trails meet again at the bottom of the crater.
This can make a wonderful loop trail - you start in Mitzpe Ramon, go either direction and eventually come back up to the start.
The views from the green trail are amazing, each minute you get to see more of the cliffs behind you towering above you, while getting a better sense of the crater below.

This cache is hidden a little above the old trail. One rock attracted me as it resembled a.. nose? and made a good hiding place.Â
Notes:
- hiking after sunset is not recommended.
-Â Please be careful while searching, especially in the hot season with snakes and scorpions looking for shade.
