
25 years of GeocachingÂ
Let's celebrate Geocaching's 25th birthday, we will toast the birthday by having a lunch event and birthday cake.
Geocaching started when this phenomenon began May 3, 2000 with Dave Ulmer, a computer consultant hiding a bucket in Oregon and putting the GPS coordinates on the internet. This was found by 2 others and geocaching was born.

Time: 12.00pm till 2.00pm

Place: Como Pleasure Grounds.
What for: Celebrating Geocaches 25th birthday, Greeting & Eating!
Facilities include: toilet, BBQ, enclosed swimming pool.
Parking: Free parking is available.
Public Transport: Take the train to Como Station and walk 10 minutes.
WHAT YOU MAY WANT TO BRING:
- A plate of nibblies (sweet or savoury).
- BYO lunch, there are BBQs, there are food outlets available or pick up something on the way.
- Drinks. As you wish.
- Picnic blanket and/or chairs. There are shelter sheds and picnic tables where we're meeting.
- Suitable clothing for the weather.
- Your GPS or phone – so you can find us and any caches in the area that you haven’t found yet.
- Trackables for discovering and/or swapping.
WHAT IS AVAILABLE
BBQ, Toilets, enclosed swimming pool, tables if we are quick enough
RAINY DAY PLAN:
In case of inclement weather, we’ll post a note on the cache page. The event will NOT be cancelled. There should be enough cover available.
