Welcome to the Four Mile Community Building!
Upon arrival you will notice a simple one-story wood frame building sitting on a rubble stone foundation. Walls are covered with asphalt siding in a tan brick pattern, and the gabled roof is steeply pitched.

A black and white photo of the building with gable roof and entrance with stairs leading up to it and tall windows on either side.
Four Mile Community Building (2000 photograph.)
Built in 1911 by local farmers using donated lumber from the sawmill just around the corner.
It was built as a Dance Hall and owned by the High Park Dance Club they held dances twice a month.
In 1923 ownership transferred to the 4-mile Farmers Club from the 4-Mile Dance Club (that’s right!), which involved a lot of the same pioneer names. The Farmers Club hosted educational programs, fairs and helped with community needs and issues.
Some members remain and both officers come from founding families.
The largest fair in Colorado at some point was held in the 4-Mile Hall. At the fair cooking, needlework, crops, canning, eggs, cattle and much more was all common subjects of gathering. They fed 3000 people on some weekends, and Governor Carr attended one year.
Even if the 4-Mile Community Building was very active at some point, it is not used nearly as much nowadays. However every few months you can spot gatherings here for various events, with an open welcome to the local community.
Take a look around!
