It’s the Winter Solstice! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lakegal44: Had a terrific turnout for this event. The weather cooperated, and some geocaches were discovered afterwards.

Thank you everyone who came: 9 of us attended, including 2 from Utah and 7 from Arizona.

Geocache Description:

Come join us and add a new virtual souvenir to your geocaching profile. But the real fun is meeting up with a bunch of other goofy geocachers out on the shortest day of the year. We will assemble near the Welcome to Utah billboard at the big turnout there. We'll have some TBs to exchange on our tailgate and a drawing for some geo stuff. Look for the orange Jeep Gladiator. That's us.

There are some caches nearby to add to your accomplishments, and Big Water has an Adventure Lab with a bonus cache only a few miles away. There are no restrooms at the location, but there are gas stations only a short distance away, so stop in, use the facilities and maybe grab a hot drink to enjoy while hobnobbing with the cachers that make it.

Lone Rock Beach at Lake Powell is nearby, and the beach is a great place for kids and dogs to expend their energy. The Fee Station has been unmanned for a month, but you are expected to either have a pass, or stop at the machine and pay a day use fee for entry.

Why here you ask? We have been geocachers for ten years and have never been able to attend an Event in Kane County Utah. So here it is! Yippee! It's a short event on the shortest day. Let's celebrate!

Please log your "will attend" so you can receive updates. Hope to see you there!
