Geocache Description:

大觀古隧道是一座歷史悠久的隧道，建於1919年，最初是為了配合日月潭水力發電工程而開鑿的。隧道全長約320公尺，內部呈S形，結構獨特，上半部使用火燒磚堆砌，下半部則以方形大石塊堆疊而成。

隧道內部曾設有六個避車孔，供行人於列車經過時停留。隨著時間的推移，隧道內的鐵路於1934年左右被改為一般道路。如今，經過整修後，大觀古隧道已開放供行人通行，成為當地一個重要的歷史景點。
