Geocache Description:

明新書院，位於集集鎮永昌國小旁，為三級古蹟，建於1883年(清朝中葉至晚期之間)，至今已有超過一百年的歷史，以三合院建築呈現古樸風貌。過去為農家字子弟習字溫書所在，書院旁陳列傳統農村民俗文物，與純樸民風相互印證。近來結合節慶祭典舉辦民俗活動，甚獲好評。
