The goodies and a camera are in a black 30 cal ammo box at the root end of a fallen tree. The land to the west is private, so your best route in is along the gravel service road that runs along the west shore of the lake. There is good parking at the north end of the lake at N42 44.654 W77 34.397 and at the south end at N42 41.504 W77 34.142.
A free permit is required to hike and boat in this area and is available any time at the north end of Hemlock lake at N42 46.747 W77 36.450.
The drive along the east shore on Canadice Lake Road is most enjoyable. Stop at any of the parking areas and walk down to the lake for a rewarding view. The Bowter once lived at the north end of this road near route 20A.
You might find some old logging roads on your hunt, but be prepared to bushwhack. If your batteries die and you forgot to pack a compass, just head down hill to the lake.
There is a bonus MicroCache at N42 41.702 W77 34.531. It's a small black plastic box down low to the ground and only a few steps to the west off the gravel road. Look for a large rock to the east of the road directly opposite the cache.
