Lake Ruatuna is one of the smaller peat lakes dotted around the Waipa District. It is managed jointly by the Waipa District Council and the Department of Conservation as a Wildlife Reserve. Access around the lake is limited, and caution is advised when exploring around the shore. There are education, shelter, and picnic facilities that can be booked through the Waipa District Council.
Please note that dogs are not permitted at Lake Ruatuna Reserve.
At the posted coordinates (WP1), you will find yourself at the entrance to the education and picnic area, overlooking the lake.
