A brief history of St Pancras Station - Opened in 1868 for the Midland Railway, at the time the train shed was the biggest single span roof in the world at 240 feet wide. It served trains to the midlands of England and beyond reaching Manchester and Glasgow. During the rationalisation of the railways in the 1960s plans were in place to demolish the station, however a campaign lead by John Betjeman saved it. In the millennium St Pancras was remodelled to serve as the main international station of the country, opening in 2007.
