I'm hosting an event inspired by GCAZFPB - NOCO's Annual Christmas Bison Exchange, but in Colorado Springs and with a Boxing Day flair.
We'll meet from 3:00 to 4:00pm at the posted coordinates for coffee, food and fun! Note that food and beverages are available for ordering, but these will be at your own expense. Attending the event doesn't obligate you to participate in the cache exchange, but if you would like to, here are the rules:
1) Before the event, please hide a "Boxing Day Cache" (gift) to be exchanged with another geocacher anywhere within five miles of the posted coordinates of this event. Please don't go over a 2 difficulty or terrain, as this is meant to be fun, not difficult. Be creative as you want in hiding your Boxing Day Cache. It can be a traditional type cache, or you can choose to make it a puzzle-cache or multi-cache to make the hunt more fun. Use your imagination! The gift can be anything you like, such as a gift card, unactivated geocoins or trackables, swag items, cache containers, etc etc. Please use your own judgement in selecting the gift items and keep the value around $20 (container included). You may place the gift item in an inexpensive cache container and hide it to be found after the event. Please ensure containers are weather resistant and animal-proof. Note the coordinates of where you hid your Boxing Day cache for step two.
2) Bring a bison tube, (any color, and feel free to decorate it if you like). If you need a bison tube, you may purchase some through your favorite online store. Inside the bison tube, place a slip of paper with the coordinates of your Boxing Day Cache you hid for another cacher to find. I encourage writing your geocaching name and cell phone number on the paper in case the seeker needs help finding their Boxing Day Cache.
3) At the event, the bison tubes will be placed on a miniature tree. Everyone who places a bison tube on the tree will be able to choose another bison tube from the tree. We'll have a fun raffle to determine the bison tube picking order. For families with multiple cachers, you may bring more than one bison tube, but ensuring there should be one Boxing Day Cache hidden for each bison tube placed on the tree.
4) After the event, go find your Boxing Day Cache! The entire cache is yours to keep, including the container! Be sure to take everything with you after the hunt. These Boxing Day caches aren't meant to be left behind nor published as a regular geocache.
5) And please, when you log the event as attended, please thank the cacher who hid your Boxing Day Cache for your gift. If you like, you may share the contents of your Boxing Day Cache and post pictures, along with the hiding spot, since this is not a regular cache hide. I'll leave the event page up for two weeks to give folks plenty of time to log their Boxing Day caches and so cachers can easily see others' logs.
If more than one is attending, please indicate how many are in your party when posting your "will attend." I'll need an accurate count by the morning of the event for the restaurant please.
Any questions, feel free to message me. I hope to see you there!
