Date: March 1st, 2025
Location: Sherbourne Common (Toronto, ON)
Time: 2pm-3pm

This CITO does not involve picking up garbage, instead we will be doing a variety of activities that will improve our shared spaces by restoring natural habitats and helping pollinators thrive.
We will build and decorate a bug hotel which I will then place in a suitable place outdoors. Bug hotels provide a safe place for insects to shelter, hide, and raise their young. We will also each have the opportunity to make two different types of seed bombs that are appropriate for the region. A seed bomb is a small ball of clay, compost, and seeds that can be thrown or planted to help restore areas of land and encourage wildlife. You will be able to take the seed bombs you create home, and then plant them later* in an appropriate place with permission.
*For spring planting, store in the freezer for at least two months before planting. When temperatures reach between 2 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees, drop or launch your seed bombs. If temperatures are above 10 degrees Celsius, thaw at room temperature for 2 days prior to planting.
The materials to create the bug hotel and seed bombs will all be provided free of charge! Feel free to bring a snack/beverage for yourself or to share if you would like. Make sure to dress for the weather as this is an outdoor event.
