Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden just off the accessible trail heading northwest out of the Pratt Museum parking lot, at a location on the north side of the trail, to the north of the blue maintenance building.  As you leave the parking area you’ll be passing an excellent map sign panel showing the trail network (and your location on the trail network), as well as a dog baggie station to equip you for cleaning up behind your canine geocaching buddy. This trail heads alongside the blue maintenance building towards an outdoor seating area where performances and presentations are conducted.  The cache is a pill container inserted into a small bird feeder, hanging about 7 feet above ground on the north side of a large spruce tree, about 8 feet north of the main trail. PLEASE only remove the pill bottle, leaving the bird feeder attached to the tree. There is no room for swag or trackables inside the bird feeder box.

Welcome to the grounds of the Pratt Museum, the only interdisciplinary museum in the 25,600-square-mile area of the Kenai Peninsula. Built on homestead land donated by Sam and Vega Pratt, the mission of the Pratt Museum and Park is to strengthen relationships between people and place through stories relevant to Kachemak Bay. Indoor exhibits focus on art, natural history, native cultures, homesteading, fishing, and marine ecology. Outdoor exhibits include the historic Harrington cabin, botanical garden and forest nature trails. Please take time to visit the museum and learn from the stories told in its exhibits. The Pratt Museum has graciously given permission for this geocache placement along one of their well-maintained nature trails, with the prior physical cache on Pratt property's south trail being moved over to this more accessible and centrally located trail location.

This cache is placed by a Sourdough Member of GeocacheAlaska! Inc., a local nonprofit organization dedicated to advocacy and education efforts supporting the get-outside game of geocaching across Alaska. Visit our website to learn more!
