In 1890, Ruth Livingston Mills inherited the estate. She was the daughter of Margaret Lewis and Maturin Livingston, Jr, and the great-granddaughter of Morgan Lewis. Ruth was the wife of financier and philanthropist Ogden Mills, and the mother of Ogden Livingston Mills, Secretary of the Treasury, Gladys Mills Phipps, and Beatrice Mills Forbes, Lady Granard.
