Elijah was the last cat belonging to Mrs Cogs, he was black or rather he was coke coloured. Black with a hint of red. He was a very bold and fearless kitten taking on two dogs that lived with him at different times. Max a bull terrier who hated male dogs except a red cattle dog called Nigel who was the sweetest thing ever. Max was definitely a fighter and once while on a long chain took on two Dobermans that the owner of deliberately brought over to him to attack him. The aftermath being Max had a swollen face and seemed very pleased with his prowess. I wont talk about what happened to the Dobermans but owner will never be doing something so stupid again. The reason for mentioning Max? Elijah took on Max as a 6 week old kitten and beat him up through the screen door. Elijah’s other slave dog was called Benjamin, and he was um well Benjamin would like to have his way with Elijah. Elijah was not amused but did not abuse him. From the time Elijah was a kitten he loved water and loved having a bath and laying in the sink in the bathroom or on the top of the shade cloth and backed up under the wisteria with the automatic water sprayer wetting him. He liked to lay up there in wait for birds. Elijah’s downfall was his absolute love a cat crunchies and tins of tuna cat food. He refused to eat anything else. Believe me I tried buying him gourmet cat food but he would not eat. Elijah is buried in Mrs Cogs mothers front yard under a very, very, healthy orange blossom tree. He is remembered with much love and admiration for his courage and his absolute love of water.
