The Environmental Theme Park of Suzhou River Mengqing Garden, referred to as "Mengqing Garden" (梦清园), is located on the south bank of Suzhou Creek, surrounded by water on three sides, and covers an area of 8.6 hectares. It was completed and opened in July 2004. It is a large-scale comprehensive construction project to improve the Suzhou Creek environment, integrating garden greening, science education venues, water environment management engineering measures, etc.
For example, the rainwater storage tank built under the Mengqing Garden has a total volume of 30,000 cubic meters and can serve 7.2 square kilometers. It is one of the four storage tanks built along the Suzhou Creek. After it is put into use, it greatly improves the transportation capacity of the sewage system, reduces the river discharge amount from the pump stations on rainy days, and hence stabilizes the Suzhou Creek's water quality to constantly meet the quality standards.

The Mengqing Garden embodies Shanghai's target to build a people-oriented ecological city, and expresses the strong desire of Shanghai people to make Suzhou Creek clean as soon as possible. This tour will guide you past a few scenic sites in the park.
