Geocache Description:

It’s that time again, Ladies and Gents!

The OndrTeam (OndrWmn, Gr8Slater and GeoK9 Frisco) is hosting, for their 3rd time, an ever-fabulous Margaritaville Roundup in Los  Algodones, Mexico, as part of the Gr8 2025 Yuma Block Party week of events.

In keeping with Herman DaGerman & Frauline's theme for GCB08C9, “Gunfight at the O. K. Corral”, our theme for Mexico is:

“THE WILD, WILD WEST”

Please make sure to stop by, grab a ticket for the raffle, and maybe get your picture taken with GeoK9 Frisco (depending on how tired he is). Also, when you sign the log, grab some rootin’ tootin’ high-falutin’ goodies!

There may be some confusion on the time of this event because Mexico is on Pacific Standard Time while Yuma is currently on Mountain Standard Time.  However, since businesses in Algodones mostly serve people in Yuma, they tend to operate on Yuma time, not Mexico time.  This  event starts at 10 AM, Pacific Standard Time, 11 AM Mountain Standard Time.  We plan to be at the event location by 10 AM, Yuma time, to greet those of you who arrive early.

Helpful and important information:

  • You must bring your passport with you to enter Mexico and return to the United States.

  • There can be a long line to get back into the United States, possibly a several hour wait.

  • There is a lovely little restaurant right across from the line where you can get delicious margaritas while waiting and also has a Gr8 geocache that can be found.

  • GeoK9 Frisco will wander through the line to say hello to everyone and give a handsome smile.

  • It is usually quite warm in February in this area so make sure to bring a hat and water (bottled water is available for purchase from street vendors, if needed).

  • Cell phone coverage may not available once you cross the border so check to see if you have the option to switch to international roaming on your phone settings as soon as you cross.

  • Download any caches you’d like to get first, before entering Mexico, just in case you don’t have an international cell phone roaming option.

  • You can park on the USA side of the border and walk to the event, about 50 yards from the crossing point (see the parking way point).  There are several local geocaches also within walking distance of the event.

See you all in Yuma!
