Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Fall Fest 2025 GeoChallenge

This is NOT a geocaching Challenge cache - instead, this cache is part of the GeoChallenge placed as part of the festivities for Fall Fest 2025! This series will offer a variety of DT ratings throughout Brantford and Brant County. All caches are stand-alone caches that do not need to be found in any specific order. When you find the cache, you will be looking for either a CODE WORD (written on the Logbook) or a STAMP inside of the cache. Record this code word or stamp your passport (available from Event HQ starting at 8pm on Wednesday, September 24th) in the appropriate location for your chance to win a TON of amazing prizes.

Please note: all passports must be returned to Event HQ prior to 12:00pm on Saturday, September 27th 2025 in order to be eligible for prizes.

There are a total of 100 caches in the GeoChallenge and all caches can be searched for by using the prefix FF25GC. Some caches in the GeoChallenge will be park and grabs, while others will involve longer hikes or TOTTs (including kayaks, boots, collapsible ladders, and flashlights). Please check the descriptions and attributes for each cache and do not attempt anything outside of your comfort zone. These caches are being placed to appeal to a wide variety of caching levels and abilities and is designed to be a CHALLENGE.

The cache IS NOT at the posted coordinates. This is a letterbox hybrid geocache. Please do not remove the self-inking stamp from the container - it must remain in the cache so others cas use it.

The cache is a camo'd peanut butter jar, that contains a logbook, a self-inking stamp, and some small trade items. Please bring a writing utensil to sign the log.

About this Cache:

Welcome, traveler! You now stand at the northern gateway of the Quaker Trail — a route steeped in peaceful perseverance, plain-dressed determination, and the quiet tread of early settlers.

This path once welcomed waves of Quaker families in the early 1800s, many of whom travelled north from Pennsylvania and New York in search of fertile land and religious freedom. By 1810, these Friends began to establish the Norwich settlement — a community rooted in simplicity, peace, and shared purpose.

Fast-forward 200 years: in 2010, Harley Road was officially designated the Quaker Trail in celebration of Norwich’s bicentennial. The plaque before you commemorates not just a road, but a route taken by families with oxen, wagons, and hope in their hearts.

Like those early settlers, you too must journey southward — not by wagon, but by wits! This journey will have you travelling 1.896708km down the Quaker Trail to the cache location, which can be found at a bearing of 174.127 degrees. This will lead you down the modern-day Quaker Trail, but use your imagination to picture this route 200 years ago — a ribbon through history, fields, and quiet echoes of the past. As you travel, think of those who travelled this route by foot or cart, carrying everything they owned. Let your steps echo theirs — slow, steady, and with purpose.

And when you reach the cache, take a moment to sit, reflect, and maybe even write a line in your log that captures the spirit of this trail.

A few notes about this series:

  • Check the attributes! They will often give you an idea of what you are looking for and what to expect at/near GZ
  • Remember that you must sign the log in order to claim the find. Group names are fine, but all cachers should be present at the time of the find.
  • Play attention to the DT ratings and don't do anything above your comfort level.
  • If you have issues with any of the caches in the GeoChallenge, please reach out to one of the Event Organizers (Pasha88, KayTeeAre, bigguy14760 and Buckeye_360) for assistance.
  • All passports must be redeemed by 12:00pm SHARP on Saturday during Fall Fest 2025! in order to be considered in the prize drawings.
