Welcome to the Fall Fest 2025 GeoChallenge
This is NOT a geocaching Challenge cache - instead, this cache is part of the GeoChallenge placed as part of the festivities for Fall Fest 2025! This series will offer a variety of DT ratings throughout Brantford and Brant County. All caches are stand-alone caches that do not need to be found in any specific order. When you find the cache, you will be looking for either a CODE WORD (written on the Logbook) or a STAMP inside of the cache. Record this code word or stamp your passport (available from Event HQ starting at 8pm on Wednesday, September 24th) in the appropriate location for your chance to win a TON of amazing prizes.
Please note: all passports must be returned to Event HQ prior to 12:00pm on Saturday, September 27th 2025 in order to be eligible for prizes.
There are a total of 100 caches in the GeoChallenge and all caches can be searched for by using the prefix FF25 GC. Some caches in the GeoChallenge will be park and grabs, while others will involve longer hikes or TOTTs (including kayaks, boots, collapsible ladders, and flashlights). Please check the descriptions and attributes for each cache and do not attempt anything outside of your comfort zone. These caches are being placed to appeal to a wide variety of caching levels and abilities and are designed to be a CHALLENGE.
The cache IS NOT at the posted coordinates.
The cache is a small twist top container hanging at the final coordinates. There is room for a logbook and some small trade items here. Please bring a pen to sign the log, and replace as found. While the posted coordinates are NOT where you will find the cache, they are a good place to start your journey and will provide access to the trails that hold the final.
The Puzzle:
Hurricanes began getting names in 1950, when the U.S. Weather Bureau began using the phonetic alphabet (Able-Baker-Charlie).
In 1953, womens names were substituted, and in 1979, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the U.S. National Weather Service switched to a list of names that also included men's names. The current list of names recycles every six years, unless a hurricane gets its name retired. Any nation impacted by a severe hurricane can lobby the WMO to have the hurricane's name retired. From 1950 - 2011, 76 hurricanes had their names retired. The list includes one tropical storm, Allison of 2001, that caused billions in damage from its heavy rains. Only three Eastern Pacific hurricanes have had their names retired; Hurricane Ismael of 1995, Hurricane Pauline of 1997, and Hurricane Kenna of 2002.
One exception to the retirement rule: before 1979, some storm names were simply dropped. For example, in 1966, Fern was substituted for Frieda, and no reason was given.
Please assume N 43 and W 080 for this puzzle.

A few notes about this series:
- Check the attributes! They will often give you an idea of what you are looking for and what to expect at/near GZ
- Remember that you must sign the log in order to claim the find. Group names are fine, but all caches should be present at the time of the find.
- Play attention to the DT ratings and don't do anything above your comfort level.
- If you have issues with any of the caches in the GeoChallenge, please reach out to one of the Event Organizers (Pasha88, bigguy14760 and Buckeye_360) for assistance.
- All passports must be redeemed by 12:00pm SHARP on Saturday during Fall Fest 2025! in order to be considered in the prize drawings.
