No verão de 2005 deflagrou um incêndio florestal, de origem criminosa, na encosta de Vilarinho, e houve a lamentar a perda da vida de um bombeiro, comparte, Franquelim José Henriques Gonçalves, que muito consternou todos os compartes da freguesia de Vilarinho.
À memória dos bravos bombeiros que perderam as suas vidas para salvar as dos outros. Aqui e em qualquer parte do mundo, a sua coragem, serviço e sacrifício nunca serão esquecidos.
