Welcome to the walking trail south of Ferris Provincial Park. This path south of the border to the provincial park has been used by locals for many years as a footpath access to the hiking trails in the park and for walking dogs. Occasionally a local will bring an ATV on the trail, but a lot of the time, the trail is unused and allows visitors a peaceful view of the river where geese, ducks and swans like to gather. As you walk north, closer to the border of the provincial park, it will be wet in most seasons, flooded in spring, and iced over in winter, so be careful. Boots and icers are recommended in appropriate seasons. There are prickly ash trees lining the trail in places and, as always, watch for ticks and poison ivy. Because the path is not widely used, you might have to trample down the snow after a heavy snowfall. Otherwise, it's a quiet short walk affording beautiful views of the Trent River with lots of wildlife. Enjoy !
This is a 2 stage multi geocache. At Stage One, you will find a container with the coordinates for the final location and container with logbook. Please check the D/T level (Difficulty and Terrain). Stage One is close to the trail where it is usually wet with ankle-deep water that freezes in winter. The final location is off-trail and there are thorns. The final container is well hidden.
