There are 0 geocaches on the moon.
4 years into geocaching, the first Earthcache was published following a partnership being created with the Geological Society of America.
The oldest active geocache, Mingo, was the 7th geocache ever hidden.
As at the beginning of 2025, there are 4 regular Geocaching Reviewers that review and publish geocaches in New Zealand.
The oldest currently active geocache in New Zealand, GC46, was originally the 2nd hidden in the country, and the 17th hidden in the world.
The first 5 geocaches hidden in the world were located in the US states of Oregon and Washington.
There are just 4 active geocaches remaining in the world that were hidden in August 2000.
The first Mega Event took place in the 6th year of geocaching.
The 2nd geocache in the world was hidden by Mike Teague, the first finder of The Original Stash.
The Original Stash, the first geocache ever hidden, has 3 find logs on the geocaching website before being archived (but was definitely found more than that).
The first 5 countries where geocaches were hidden, back in the year 2000, were USA, New Zealand, Chile, Australia and then Ireland.
